World Orienteering Day 2023 was organised, between the dates May 17th and May 23rd, any activity held could be registered as a World Orienteering Day event.
In total 780 events were organised with 100 952 participants in 63 countries / regions around the world.
This is an increase in the number of participants and events comparing to previous year. The total number of countries /regions are the same.
Georgia and Pakistan joined World Orienteering Day for the first time.
Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Malaysia, Singapore and Slovenia once again joined after some years away.
The figures for the participants various from at the most in Norway, 11 212 compared to South Africa with 10.
Finland had the biggest percentage increase for numbers of participants, from 145 to 3 908.
The highest change of numbers for participants was done by Türkiye with 8 272 more participants during this year.
753 of the 780 events had less than 400 participants.
